Quick question if anyone can help...

Just received a new shurflo pump and digital varistream and have a quick question regarding the wires running from the pump.

There is one red wire from the bottom of the pump to a loose end, one black wire from the top of the pump to a loose end, and one red wire from the top of the pump to the bottom of the pump.

I'm guessing I just need to connect the two loose red and black wires to the varistream, but what is the red wire that runs from the top to the bottom of the pump for?

Pressure switch - normally it is disconnected with a varistream but check the instructions or you'll fry your cicuit board.

I have a digital varistream connected to the pump and the pump has the red loop as described to the presure switch and has been working fine for over 3 years now.

Ordered a fair bit of new stuff including complete new static setup (40" RO and 1000L IBC).  Also a new shurflo pump and digi varistream. 

I got absolutely zero instructions with any of it!

Now you have the wiring diagram, you need to insert an isolator switch on the positive cable from the battery to the Varistream, and switch it off after every day's work.

We found that the Varistream is 'live' even when switched off and still uses current. This current is enough to drain a fully charged 85amp leisure battery by 25% in a week. We have found that when the power to the Varistream is switched off at night, the split charge relay manages to keep the leisure battery almost fully charged now. We only have to supplement it's charge once a month and its not by very much.

The lose wire from the pump pressure switch is disguarded. The wire the goes from the pressure switch to the motor is the one that has its terminal cut off and joined to the pump + of the Varistream. The pump and supply terminals are clearly labeled under the Varistream.

The Varistream does away with the pressure switch and uses and electronic current draw to regulate the cut-off pressure.
