I once claimed for a stolen carpet cleaner, that I had locked up in my outside shed thats is attached to the building.
I had to fight the insurance company for over a year, while they tried to get off paying, and one of the reasons they used was because I did not say I was keeping worke related equipment in the shed.
The maximum that could payout was £1000 the machine was worth over £2000, I did win in the end but the hassle was not worth it, now I tell them everything and insist I record what I say to them, just in case they start wiggling again.
and they did the following year, I got burgled and lost over £20k, they said that they had declined to renew my insurance even though they had been collecting my direct debits payments, I went to the ombusman and lost but I did get my premiums back
