Photo of DIY baffled tank
« on: July 14, 2012, 08:58:45 am »
Could someone that has baffled there tank, using land drain pipe or something similar, upload a photo of it so that I can see exactly how its done?

Im aware that you need to fill the tank with it, but im not sure about the diffrent lengths that the piping needs to be cut, and how much of the piping needs to go in there.

If someone could it will be most helpful as im fed up of feeling sea sick everyday  ;D

Cheers

Hi James,
cannot provide a photo but here is a link similar to what I bought

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/25M-x-80mm-coil-of-Perforated-Land-Drainage-Piping-/160826925147?pt=UK_DIY_Materials_Plumbing_MJ&hash=item257208205b

As you can see its coiled and flexible, 25 m was enough to fill my 650 ltr layflat.
There is no need to cut lengths, just start feeding it in to the tank, it will find its own path ( after a bit of resistance ) and begin to coil and twist around.
The pipe is perforated so the water will self level, just stuff as much pipe in there as you can ! its light and really does'nt affect the water capacity of the tank. Be sure you have a filter between tank and pump to protect from plastic shavings.
thats about it really!

Thanks for the info Simon.

As for the filter you talk of, where's best to get it?

not familiar with that one, some types of pump e.g. shurflo have their own specific screw on filter but any inline filter to fit 1/2" hose will do, such as this one
