'I'm going to be skint   although my wife works I will still need to bring some money in'

You must have a serious cocaine habit then. Being on £100 an hour and Jimmy Carr's accountant I can't see how you can't afford to do something to keep you occupied other than making money, although you are from Yorkshire and maybe that's your way of relaxing.

'skint' is a relative word, I could do nothing and not worry too much but i see the as an opportunity to experiment.  I've always got at the back of my mind the fact that at some point i might not be able to work full time, so if i can start developing other areas of revenue it won't do any harm.

I've also been in talks with my last operative who has expressed an interest in working for me again, so i could just let him do the work and chauffeur me around to do the quotes as long as i can get in the van i could carry on as normal

Well i think what the lads have suggested about creating some kind of information product on carpet cleaning would be a good move (beginners start up guide/marketing) . The most valuable thing we possess is the specialist knowledge we have. Although it may seem daunting when you think about the amount of stuff you write on here over 3 months, that's probably an ebooks worth. The information would have to be specific and detailed though.

We are all a bad back away from useless so a residual income is a nice bonus.

the problem with selling information is someone would buy it, copy it, them pass it on to their mates, one copy would go around half of CIU.

thats why I thought about personalised videos with a company profile built in, it can't be sold on

I know what you're saying Mike and here's the thing.

If I did something like that in an area I was an expert in (not carpet cleaning) I would give it away free! Ebooks sell for not much yet the perceived value of similar information on audio or video is 100 time more. It would be a marketing tool and a list builder.

Ebooks, ibooks, digital magazines, youtube videos can contain links. Links to suppliers of equipment and chemicals, links to closed training forums, webinars..... the ability to generate an income is only limited by your creativity and TIME.

When I bought my first truckmount I looked for a video on basic maintenance so I could save a bit of money & get a bit of know how, got one in the end not very good quality from chemtex, but would be a good niche to get into ,

Mike,

There is an e book system (which I cannot remember at present) where someone has to log on each time with a password to read it. Personally, it would drive me mad. Your next best thing would be a membership site.

As Wynne said, getting as many copies out there, building up a list and selling repeatedly to them is the real way forward.

Thats why you have to sell at a premium price or sell so cheap.

Most products I buy come with so many links it makes it hard to pirate

But i know there are loads of techi clever clogs around so you are as usual probably correct. And it would be soul destoying to put in 40 hours on a product and have someone rip it off

I did not say it before but I am really sorry to hear you will be out of action.

If you are able to be around perhaps this is the time to take your company to next level  and you just manage it . as you have often said you only cover 6 square miles, lots of over nice towns you could do business in provided your team is trained.

O.K.

How about doing telemarketing for some carpet cleaners.

And rather than the 'Do you want your carpets cleaned' click, 100 calls a day type thing it would be an opportunity to find out the best answer to every objection, the best approach...etc

You can make some money but the main thing is you would be able to pass this on to someone you hire for yourself.

Would need to watch Panarama on Monday to see how companies get round TPS regulations

Phone from abroad and stick two fingers up to TPS. I had a call from Mumbai a while back and 'Mary' said they get the TPS DNC list so the can actively call it. LOL

Leads from competitions are a good way to get qualified prospects and TPS doesn't apply.

I agree best prospects are those registered with TPS
