Interesting email
« on: June 27, 2012, 08:55:30 pm »
had this email sent to me anyone heard of it?  're-targeting'.......

Hi there,

I know this is the first time we’ve been in touch, so if you’re not familiar with Web Windows I should explain we are a long established marketing company specialising in newspaper and online advertising.

Website owners often go to great lengths to attract visitors to their site only to find that 98% leave without a trace. But with a brand new and exciting marketing tool called re-targeting, you can display banner ads to them after they’ve left your site. It’s so effective, every website owner should be doing it!

Using law-compliant cookie technology, re-targeting is the perfect way of reminding prospective customers by displaying banner advertising for a week after they have left your site.

An email offering something new can often provoke more questions than it does provide answers, but I hope the following covers the main points:

• How much: £450 + VAT
• What you get: For SIX months visitors who leave your site will see banner ads of yours elsewhere on the Internet for a week.
• The benefits: The most targeted marketing opportunity money can buy. It equates to just £75 per month.

You don’t need to become an expert because we’ll sort the campaign out for you, we’ll create all of the copy for free and then we’ll send your ad out throughout the internet to your past visitors. You’ll get full reporting throughout the campaign and can even log in to check the progress at any point that the campaign is live. All this will cost just £450!

Online marketing is about relevance, it’s about stacking the odds in your favour to make sure that your advertising is reaching the right audience at the right time. If you are doing any form of marketing as a way of attracting visitors to your site (Google, print ads, social media, business cards, leaflets, radio campaigns…) then you should be considering a re-targeting campaign.

Get in touch now! We can discuss all the exciting online opportunities to start making you more from your website traffic.

Regards,
Mike Halliday.  www.henryhalliday.co.uk

Doesn't adwords do this anyway (if you create banner ads)?

Well that's 2 of us who've looked at that site - shall we see how it pans out over the next 7 days (surely they're using their own methods)?

Re-Marketing, as google calls it,  has been around for some time now, it has become big over the last 12 months.

It gets a little spooky when adverts for a site you have recently visited keep showing on other sites you visit, it gives the impression the company are spending a lot of money on advertising, when in fact they are not.

£450 is a lot of money for this, you can do it yourself, if you now how to do adwords, it is along the same lines.

The tell tale sign with anything like this is the length of commitment they want. This is because you won't be doing it again.  ;)

Ask for case studies from companies in another industry that show how much extra revenue they have generated. Ask for analytics too, if they fall over themselves to show you successes then fair enough, but they won't.
It's not expensive, you just can't afford it.
