Automatic opening doors
« on: May 31, 2012, 08:10:22 am »
Hi Everyone.

I have 3 shops on the round that have these automatic door openers operated from sensors on each side. It can be time consuming to get staff to switch the sensors off so the door can be cleaned.
Have any of you had the same issue and if so, and how did you overcome it?

I have been looking for some magnetic covers that will quickly clip over them but haven't found anything as yet. Any other ideas please.

Used to have on at Pets At Home.
Keypad was next to the door - setting doors to manual takes about 2 seconds - then clean.
Was annoying that staff were still using the door so I had to open and close it a few times as I cleaned but they usually slide easily enough.

With these stores I have, I have to find the 'authorised' person who has the key and then wait around until they are ready to help me. Somebody's law says that when the time comes to do the doors the shop becomes the most busiest and opening and closing the door isn't their top priority at that moment.

i generally just leave them.  my excuse though is that they dont put the shutters up till they open the shope.  if they wont let me clean the windows till the customers come in, then i cant lean the automatic doors

Are you lot serious !

I think you will find that if you wait until they close , then jam your foot against the bottom of the door the motor will sense this and think that some poor soul has been trapped , this then cuts power to the motor and your doors are left floppy if you like , just be aware that reset times vary , to try it at home just stick your head out the car window and close it , it will pinch a bit , but you wont get your noggin chopped off !
