I would consider a booster pump or a low pressure membrane. whats the flow rate like out of your tap, and pressure and flow both make a difference in your fill time.
with a booster 3 hours max if good flow
without I would say upto 6
I saw a fellow window cleaner down the road this afternoon who has got a Pure Freedom 40/40. His is unpumped and will fill his 1000l tank in around 6 hours. We have reasonable pressure here and a good flow. Much better than before as all the pipes have been relined with plastic.
Since they have done that our water TDS has come down from 250 to 90 ppm. It must have been all the rusty old steel pipes as the water we use has always come from Kilder Dam.
There is just one thing that has bugged me about his system though. Pure Freedom uses a brass gate valve on the waste which he opens to flush the membranes. He then fully closes it after he has finished. I asked if there was any water going to waste when the system was working and he said "yes - a little". So does this mean that Pure Freedom have modified the gate valve, ie., drilled a small hole in it to give the right pure to waste ratio?
If he is closing the waste valve fully off, then he is going to wreck that membrane pretty quickly. Saying that, the unit is about a year old now and they use about 1200 litres of pure a day, so it must be working ok.
