what does everyone pay for there water use
« on: May 10, 2012, 01:59:26 pm »
since ive moved into the new unit it doesnt have a seperate water meter so three units feed off unit 1 they get a bill every quarter and usually split it between the three before i moved in and usually payed around a 100quid each i think, unit ones last bill was 900 which i had to pay 600 quid and now ive had an invoice for 700 quid

ive spoken to my landlord (who used to own all three units but unit one have bought there in last two years) and hes saying its down to me to get meter fitted myself but it involves digging up about 70metres of tarmac and laying new pipework and coming off main meter on main road this would come with a price of about £2500 easily

at my old unit i used to get i think 40-50% reduction on my water bills because water didnt go down drains.

unit one are getting a bit peed off now and arent happy with the landlord and say it should be down to him to supply seperate water feeds to each unit

RICHY, fit a meter on your inlet pipe to track how much you use you can get them offer abay for about £20 then you will see whats what, I would not pay the £600 just because they say so, I would want the facts first, ask them for there prior bills going back a year before paying.

it is down to your landlord to add a meter

:o i can't believe you haven't done this for christs sake. As above, get your own meter and monitor your water usage. Put it before the RO so you know exactly how much you use including waste water.

If your waste water goes back to the sewer then your probably going to have to pay that.

I pay £25 per week as a sole trader including household usage. Water companies do commercial rates too.
Don't forget it's tax deductible too.

I used 150 cubic metres last year on my own just for pure water.

That's got to be around £500 a year plus the unit's usage plus the sewerage costs your current bills probably aren't that far off.
