Anyway, the drain valve has developed a leak, small o ring in it. Any idea where I can get a replacement?

I usually get them from those habberdasheries that are on every high street. I don't know what else to call them ... they sell crap screwdrivers and batteries and the like. Like an inbetween of the poundshop/land and wilkos usually owned by the hardworking folk of an asian persuasion.

Anyway I brought a load and threw the big ones away.

They are also a good source for colouring in books if that's your bag ... dot to dots too!

Motor factors usually keep a box of assorted rubber o rings. Take old one as a sample and I'm sure they will match it.
Is it a similar size to the Hoselok hose fittings by any chance?

Much smaller than Hozelock. I got mine from a motor factors too, last one they had.

I couldnt find one for love or money so I put a couple of wraps of ptfe round it.

TBH i never unscrew the drainage as Ive got a join in the hose with the hozzlelock and it drains from that !!!

I never use the drain valve either, but because of the hot water the rubber perishes. I found an exact match at halfords, screwed it back in, still leaks!

I'll put some ptfe tape around it.

I bet you've got too much pressure. you can screw the valve up a bit inside to allow for the pressure but failing that, plumb your system to suck through the fogwash instead of pressurising it.

Varistream is at 9, combined with flow on 4 it's the lowest pressure setting I can use without the pump (consequently the hotwash) cycling. I'll put some tape around it as it's doing my head in. Need to wring out a cloth after every job.

Yes, but if you are using hot then your hose will swell with the heat, tend to crush your reel (like you have) and the pump won't cut out fast enough, the fogwash valve then blows like it's designed to. I'll bet if you use cold water you hardly get any leaks. look inside the valve and you will see an adjustment screw to up the pressure. But check the handbook to find out the kind of pressure the fogwash is designed to take.
I had weeks of problems and now suck through the unit resulting in no pressure inside and no leaks from the valve. Still get pressure problems from hot water in the reel but it can't affect the heater.
Ideally a bypass system should be fitted then pressure build up wouldn't happen.

If you suck through hotwash do you not get hot water running through your pump which is supposed to shorten the pump life?
