Has anyone canvassed for gutter cleaning?

I did a few years back, just to test the water, before vacs were available.

Would be interesting to see what kind of response you got.

Is canvassing for gutter cleaning really worth it?

You could spend a whole day canvassing and get a couple of jobs... But then they probably wouldn't be due again for 12 months?

So, you've then spent time getting the work and time doing the work - You would earn more canvassing for and servicing regular window cleaning customers?

When I I'd it one evening, I got 4 jobs in about 1 1/2 hrs, and if I remember right all were £55. 3 bed semis.
I did it with a view of getting a couple of canvassers, and a van with a lad just doing gutters.

Good earner I think, if you can get a decent door knocker!

Depends how much you would have to pay the canvasser and the lad to clean them, is it not seasonal work too?

i did 3 this week .internal gutter clean facia and soffit clean 400 quid for 8hrs work nice earner if you can get it, custys well happy with one giving me an extra tenner

I've canvassed solely for gutter clearing - i no longer do it !

for a start unless the person can actually see a blockage they are reluctant for you to do the work then i found that the majority of houses with overgrown gutters are rentals - so no go - then you get the sorry no money ( unless your doing it for a tenner )

having said that i had some good hits and brought in 15 to 20 jobs but i find far more success from having the service
advertised weekly in the local rag - reccomendations - as people seeing it on the van and in action.

Few weeks ago, I canvassed existing window cleaning customers on a 'poah estate' I spent an hour (if that) canvasing, and 3 hours doing the work the following day.

Turned over more than £30 per hour.

Was well worth it, but I feel that its in your head, which customers will say YES. out of the custys I spoke to, I was only turned away,by 2 of them.

When canvassing for windows its best to look at the bigger picture too like how much work could you get from one house etc. I always look at state of their gutters and facias when I'm about to quote a new job. So after you give them the wc quote just say that you could do the gutters/facia's etc for £££'s when you come to clean windows then every 6 months thereafter.
