Fair enough I think, but before I start dishing it out, anything I could do better?

Just an idea, could you waive the price increase if they pay be BACS within say 7 days as this will save money in collecting and get more people paying this way.  Or even better if you can get the customer to agree it to get them on standing order; again at the old price.
Also, I wouldn't give them 30 days to pay; 7 days is enough  ;D

I would not waive the price increase as costs have gone up and they all know it. Don`t reward them for something like paying,as its a normal expectation in business.RATHER CHARGE MORE IF THEY DON`T. also that " majority all know" OF YOU needs to come as its sounds like the finger in the face and a little impolite.

hi james...
when I first started SAE instead of collecting , I also stipulated payment within 30 days. It was a mistake as it gave people the impression that they had 30 days to pay....
I changed this a few years ago to 7 days, and I must say that nearlly all pay within the 7 days, ans some within 14 days....

Thanks for the replys. I did orginally have 14 days to pay, but decided on 30 as some people may not get paid for a further month. Should persistant customers not pay within 30 days they will be dropped. Simple

i never bother with  letters.i just told em over the last 2 months that they will be going up from april.only 2 cancellations!ive put at least 100 customers prices up every year over the last 3 years.this year around 150 have gone up.some ive put up a fiver.one even £8!from £52 to £60!!

most have gone up  £1-£1-50 a clean.itll mean an extra few hundred quid a month for the same work!happy days!

i wasnt always this confident.i went years without any price rises  when i was trad.ive finally learnt my lesson and im starting to reap the rewards and run my round like a business instead of a "job"!! ;D ;D ;D

Defo suggest payment in 7 days.
If you put 30 days, you'll be waiting , why work for 3 weeks or more before being paid.

I always stipulate, payment within 7 days please.

Frankly, 30 day tems may be ok for trade work, no way for domestics, in my opinion.

If in doubt.....Leave it out !!

Pretty much the way I did it.  I tied in a price increase with BACS payments (they could save money on the postage).
