Better off asking your insurance company.
When i enquired recently, some would not insure the van because of the tank, yet some would at no extra cost.
Insurance is a funny old thing, but best to always keep them informed on any changes

Nothing at all, I ask this question every time I reinsure my van with Commercial Vehicles Direct and every time they say it doesn't make a difference. I have notified them and thats all I need to do. They were also the cheapest at £400 fully comp with 5 years NCB!

I know other people have been charged a lot more for having a tank

If its a load that is within the payload of the vehicle i dont see why it should make any difference ... INsurance companies are con artists

Just remember that most insurance companies are lying, cheating, weasels. Proceed from that assumption and not only will you never feel injustice at being ripped off but you can also be pleasantly surprised if they don't.

Have had vans insured with Aviva for the last few years but just recently, whilst changing other details on the policies, they asked questions about the system used and have now refused to re-insure. They said that because the system is fitted to the vehicle, it is now classed as plant, which their underwriter won't insure. However, they did confirm that if I removed the fixings, the system then becomes goods-in-transit so "could " be insured, even though the set up would be more dangerous!

Used to use Alexander Swan but their prices went through the roof, so back to shopping around  >:(
