Most people want one product that will remove dirt and all other stains whilst being safe on all carpets. The nearest thing to that is Microsplitters and in particular SPM.

Rarely do I need to spot, whereas in the past I would get reasonable results but a fair bit of spotting.

Powerburst is also brilliant and I'm happy to use it on most things. Yes even wool.

It's not expensive, you just can't afford it.

Jim, didn't have a clue what it was you were using... all I can say is since using SPM I've only ever had one job where powerburst made just a little bit of an improvement on a trashed area.  There could be other reasons apart from blaming the product :)

I'm a novice, so please excuse me for my ignorance, but I though Power burst was not suitable for wool carpets.   So it's okay for wool ???

Thank's for the reply.  As in acid rinse I assume any finishing spray would suffice? I'm currently using Ashbys with a PH of 3.5.

Power burst is brilliant I find myself using it more and more on wool (with acid rince). I cant seem to get on with microsplitters but havn't tried spm yet. I just hope its not like mpower, loads of hype but not all that effective. (for me anyway).

For an acid rince I would use Fib & Fab in the extraction.

to be fair michael, all acid rinses are virtually identical! i use clear water rinse from hydramaster!!!

By finishing spray, do you mean go over it with acid rinse in a pump up sprayer? i don't like that option, i prefer to put in my clean tank, well when i was using a portable, now i use it in the chemical jug of my TM

Thank's for the reply Billy. Yes I do use the finishing spray in a pump-up bottle. So when using a portable did you extract twice, one with extraction powder / liquid, then the acid finish?   I can see the advantage of this as the carpets will be left dryer as the acid finished would have be extracted.

never used extraction powder/liquid, just used acid rinse in the tank!!! pre spray should have done most of  the work!

Dont leave me in suspense Jim, i have used SPM about twenty times now and i always use it at the dilution rates suggested or higher put it down hot and agitated, i am not saying it does not work but it does not work every time. i have even tried M power down first left to dwell for thirty minutes then just before extraction sprayed SPM and agitated it to death, just find it a convoluted way of working.

I find the best prespray is the one I'am using at the time. In other words I can get most of them to work to the same standard as the last one, with a few variations on dwell time, agitation or boosters. At the moment I am using up DFC210 which works out very cost effective, sometimes boosted with energiser.

Well Jim I reckon you've obviously rung the changes with those variables... I always apply plenty to whatever I'm cleaning, as much as is safe for whatever carpet, maybe that's the difference.  Other than that the other difference... not wanting to start the old debate again... the T word :-\

But then that would not be a product issue... ah I don't know :-\

By the way, just got back from a curry house job that I do regularly... used shockwave on it and the results kicked the a$$ out of powerburst... wasn't expecting that :o

I'm yet to thoroughly put shockwave through its paces, so tonight was a good experiment.  Tried it first off but kept a hydroforce container full of powerburst on standby, fully expecting to have to switch back to the old faithful..... Looks like I've got some surplus powerburst now!!

I'm not saying it is as good as or better in all cases, I need to finish the bucket of it first before any solid conclusions drawn.  But yeah I'm impressed so far!

uhmmm I think the point I was trying to make is... although shockwave isn't exactly the "greenest" thing out of the solutions stable it certainly goes to show that the newer generation of products certainly can do the business.

This photo quality is rubbish and doesn't show anything like the real life results seen with your own eyes, but you get the idea....
