Question for alex Gardiner
« on: April 05, 2012, 04:18:59 pm »
Regarding your care guide for poles you said:

5. When clean fully dry each section, replace any of the joint-stop overlap tape if needed and the lightly spray the sections with PTFE dry-spray, paying particular attention to the overlap area.

Do you know if i can use something else (PTFE)?

thanks

I cannot recommend anything else.

What you must not use is an oil based PTFE enriched lubricating spray as this can penetrate over time the weave of the carbon and could lead to carbon failure.

If it is dry then yes this may well work.

If this is used on carbon fibre poles then any issue with de-lamination or breakdown of carbon fibre structure would not be covered under warranty as it is a penetrating oil-based liquid and not really suitable for these poles.

I've been using WD40 on my SLX30 and four years on all is good.
It's a game of three halves!
