We take ours off the reel, and as I live on a hill and have a long track, remove one of the fittings and use gravity.

i have a spare connector with a hose tail that fits into my footpump, and use that to pump out my hose reel when i think it may freeze.

maybee im missingsomething here, but could you not just discconect the pump from the tank and then turn the pump on to force all of the water out of the brush head until no more water comes out ?

you would think that would work but in winter it always leaves some water in there. Not a great way to drain

Exactly what I was finding with the winter freeze, I've sold the reel and hose on fleabay so ideally need to drain the water to make it lighter...

Try putting your mouth round it and give it a good sucking. Normally does the trick for me  ;D
