numatic buffer handle problem
« on: April 03, 2012, 12:25:36 pm »
Hi lads,

Just a quickie, I have a numatic buffer that Im using on commercial tomorrow.
The problem is that when you lift the trigger to lower the buffer for use, it slips, its ok when you have it in the down position for work, but when you walk with it it just drops if you go over bumpy ground. i have taken it apart flippin pain in the neck and the cog was worn so i turned the cog around so it can grip the fresh teeth on the cog, but it still slips, took the handle apart yesterday and there was a nut inside that I adjusted but didint seem to do the trick either! Any Ideas on how to adjust the handle so that it will stay in place.
b.t.w a ball bearing fell out of the handle when i opened it and havent got a clue where it goes!! anyone need a ballbearing?? ::)

I think the ball bearing is meant to be loose inside the handle, it falls into place when the handle is upright to stop the trigger being pulled.

that is correct Ash..
There is a part that you have to get, I don't know the name of it,but it goes at the bottom of the handle, is about 2 inches long and cylyndrical (bugger knows how you spell that). It is also about £30 for the thing, that fits in with the cogs, and works the ratchet system. It is the only thing that will get it working properly.

Hi Hector,
Yeah that part was in good shape so I didnt change it, i think its to do with adjusting the handle somehow.
