Window Round sale value
« on: March 09, 2012, 05:54:42 pm »
How do you put a sale value on a window round, I have one that I am considering selling, it generates just over £800 every four weeks, is all WFP and can be completed in just over four days.

It is all domestic work and is just over four years old so well established.

Serious answers only please.

Why not just test the water with a price you would be happy to accept??
If you only get cheeky/p taking offers then at least you've still got your quality work and the knowledge that the market ain't buying at the moment

We were talking about this the other day whilst out working.
We feel we have a very very solid round, good payers etc etc
Would a new person to window cleaning pay £80k+ for a round 2 vans and a employee? Because thats the kind of figures we would want to sell up.
But in reality as we all know you earn from day 1, job 1, minute 1,then a month after you have worked you go back and do it all again!
Outsiders dont see this as there isnt many businesses that have constant repeat custom which you can get fully paid for your services as you finish the job.
Another window cleaner knows that if they spent £80k on a round they would get it back in a year, again not many businesses you can invest and work in can get all you initial investment back in a year!
But reality is you could probably spend a quarter of the £80k and build that kind of turnover via new business.

Its a tough call as to what a round is worth, its the old adage "its worth what someone is willing to pay"

Rounds do seem to sell on the cheap but its probably because people want to sell quicker than a buyer can be found? If you need to sell quick its a buyers market, in no rush and you can keep the work ticking over hold out for higher price.

good post

thats the thing a large round say £4k a month 10x is 40k well for say 13k a year you could employ one full time doorknocker. how many leads will he pull a month? 200? how many regulars 60 do the maths !

but then again when you buy its instant it works too cos u get the work right away

also like you say its only worth to the person who wants to pay it so it depends on each person the way they see it !

Thanks for all of your replies.

We are currently reviewing what we do and whether we can move away from windows.

doorknocking for  a year would bring in alot of work , but not necessarily compact and priced right , with all the systems in place for payment etc and custies trained to pay online/send cheques

Whereas buying a good business could have all that , so would be worth considerably more as not just a customer list

On the other hand it might be crap prices, cleaned trad and spread out so its all relative

Id want a years turnover to sell too
