I heard these are the best guttervacs out ther...... Is it worth the price... they go around 1500 but some go of ebay for around 1,000

is it worth it in investing in one ?

They must do a great job with the gutters !

what do you all think

i got one and i got a vak king admittedly they are 2 different beast one for domestic and the other for blocks etc. I am happy with both machines though if i could do it again i would not buy from omni , i think they are a rip off , everything they sell is good kit but way way overpriced , if i was you i would do a search on here , i think that eastern trading machines are as good as omni but cheaper , try gutter cleaning systems. someone told me that the omni poles are not air tight enough which is why there is so much power in the vacs.

been using an Omnivac for over 3 years - never failed to clear/remove blockages - even in the downpipe & have never needed a ladder since for gutter clears.
and more importantly it's never gone wrong.

if your going into gutter clearing in a big way then buy a quality bit of kit ( i do agree Omni-vac prices are steep )
but if you are doing a few domestic clears here and there and upto 2 storeys then i'd plump for an eastern trading vac

the other problem you have with the omni is that 4200w is a lot of power to use and could easily trip custys electric , because of this and for safety i bought a 110v vac but it is such a ballache to set up with genny and if you can find a transformer big enough for it you would probably have to drive it to site in a seperate van! lol

ours is 240 and the Genny takes about 15 seconds to start   :D

cust'y already paying to have the gutters cleared - i think it's only fair to supply the power to your own tools

so much hassle!!! , i thought that when i bought the omni that i would be a gutter millionaire spent thousands of pounds on it and attachments , generator , trailer etc..... the reality?  if we can access a gutter with a ladder it is a ladder job every time! if not then we get out the vac king. and only for really BIG jobs and as a last resort does the omni and the genny come out.....

Ditto - Eastern Trading vac and generator in trailer - it's just too heavy and bulky. Nine times out of ten the Little Lidl jobby and custies electric does the job.

We have three omni vacs, I bought a new one at 1500 quid a second hand one (like new) at 700 quid. The third one is made up of 48ft omni poles swapped from a guy on here for something and already had two vac exactly same as omni vacs so converted one.

All three are in use almost every day - we use 6.5 KVA generators to power each of them.

Looking at the idea of trying Carbon Fibre poles - just waiting for the company involved to contact me...........

Do you carry three generators in your van?

Like any electric wet & dry vac eventualy the motors will pack up. I've two knackerd omni vacs that I can't get replacement motors for :'(

Found that the vac motors on the yellow top Star make omni were selling a long time ago did not last very long. You could not replace the motor brushes either as it was a sealed motor unlike some others. Omni stopped selling that Star brand as was having to many issues with the motors.

I see now http://www.guttercleaningsystems.co.uk/ are selling Star 4200w vac in there packages. ???

Whatever make you decide to get make sure you can replacement motors.

That explains it. My yellow top had constant issues and two motors have stopped working. No wonder they stopped suppling them. I have just purchased the new motor top so hopefully no more issues.
I wish Omni pole were honest with us

I think the biggest problem is the filter - gutters are often wet and quite often dry and gritty, so if you leave the filter off then the dust and grit go straight through the motors.

How much did Omni charge you for that? was it 240 or 110v new motor top?

Yep you need to leave the big filter in the drum at all times otherwise it will cause the motors to burn out prematurely. Don’t forget to clean the filter regularly with a hose as soon gets blocked.
