Dirty looks :-)
« on: February 20, 2012, 02:14:27 pm »
Have any of you noticed that you can always spot a fellow windy who is either:

A. Not very bright
B. very new to the job or
C. Both of the above

you can tell this I think by the way they slow down as they pass and give you daggers?   :D
Always makes me laugh. Doing a customer in Broadstairs that I've done for last 9 years just now guy just tried to burn holes in my face.  Numpty.

I remember being that young and stupid. I used to feel cheesed off when I saw another windy too.

I find it fun hunting for others, it seems to me windy's are like Ninja's you only ever seem to catch a slight glimpse of one as your passing.  I spotted one just now, working out of his estate car like I do, seriously under cover he was  ;D

get the odd one like that, but seen something far more dodgy today..

An old fella, probably 70, he has just changed from scrimming, to using a squeegee.... Stil has a wooden ladder.

Its absolutely blowing a gale here today, and he was out in it, up & down the ladder, he was going. I thought to myself "thats a bit dodgy" then realised that if he did come off, then it would free up some work ;D

All fairly friendly around Chepstow, apart from one window cleaner who winds some of the others up.  But I think we've got a good bunch of window cleaners here; even Squeaky!  :o

Mostly friendly around here, but I was attacked by another window cleaner when I first started out in Chichester, little did he know I was a very handy amateur boxer, he didn't try it again!!!  ;D

I suppose that's my point really if youve got half a brain you don't mind other windys after a while.
Most are friendly round this way too. Apart from one guy who thinks its all 'his patch' doughnut

Did any of them have nice shiny hub caps?  ;D

We went out yesterday to canvass around a couple of new customers we picked up last month, I was told there are absolutely no windy's on the estate...... well I found 4 operating in the same small street and even door knocked one as the poor bloke and his mate were up their ladders doing the back of the house  ;D

He was a nice bloke though and we had a little chuckle.  I picked up sod all work, was a little grumpy on the drive home.  But as we drove off up a rather steep hill, we were glancing over at an estate that looked ripe for pickings.  I thought sod it why bother door knocking those houses as they are bound to be covered.  Instead I looked at the row of houses with really steep steps to the front and thought to myself I wonder if anyone can be bothered to canvass them with all them steps.... well I did and picked up a new customer.

So now I'm going back again later to knock all the others, and wave to all the other windy's  ;)

I think there are two kinds. Those who too useless to do anything else.
And those who realise that it's one of the best jobs in the world.  :D

I'm not sure where those who know me best would say I fit.  :D

And now you just post about them on the internet. Fair play.

Have several really friendly windy's around here - nearly always stop for a quick chit chat ( work permitting )

just have one fella who gives me a glare and usually shoots off - but then again he did try to take my custies a few years back when i fell off a ladder...  ::) (not that i hold that against him  :))

hey Tosh i see you got a promotion !   ;D
