Called into my local HSBC bank today to pay in. While I was there a man came to clean the windows and, in all honesty, the job he did was totally crap. It was fairly obvious that he was not a "proper" window cleaner and only had the bare minimum of equipment. His car (not van) has home writing on it - service something??
As I was at the counter, I asked who cleaned their windows. And the reply was "some national company who only come once a year". "we're not happy with the job they do, but there's noth we can do about it"
Perhaps I should give my custom to a bank that supports me?  :

I think there is, fair enough if just starting up but to portray a professional image I think a decent van is required

not always, we use 3 sign written vans + a car, were obviously not very proffesional

  my brother has used a car for about 32 years, they also had six vans at one point, and he turns over about x10 my turnover out of his car, and  I have a shiny van by the way what do you need other than a squeegie and applicator to clean a bank, a short pole maybe

I clean 7 of them , all done monthly, all need signing off by the bank. need a purchase order for each month

All spotless

we used to clean 100 of them and they all had to be spotless, or the managers would complain and not sign the docket

The bank is in West Wales. It's a modernised victorian buiding with tall, fairly narrow, windows. He had a dish cloth wraped around his squeege as an aplicator on the end of a very long pole. There was a 2 inch border around each window that hadn't been cleaned.

You gotta love that. It does amaze me how these companies sub out work to any tom dick or harry without checking to see whether or not they can actually do the work. Fact it some dont care as long as the workbill is signed, not so long ago I saw a chap doing a Nat West in my local high street and despite the fact some guy was using the cashpoint he just waltzed upto the window above the machine and soaked it and inevitably the chap using the cashpoint also got a shower, no idea if the guy complained to the bank but what sort of numpty would try to clean the window when customers are already using the cashpoint?
