Referals from local cleaning company
« on: December 22, 2005, 10:59:06 am »
Hi,
I met the owner of a local cleaning company when I was doing an empty property recently, and we exchanged business cards.
This morning whilst having an enjoyable pre-christmas lie-in,the owner appeared on my door step having apparently lost my card with phone number, but remembered my address ??? ??? ???
She has recommended me to one of her clients at the local college, she has found out that when it was cleaned last year the cost was £360.I am going this afternoon to do a quote to see what I will charge, however it needs to be done between xmas and new year so there may be a premium ;D ;D.I was looking forward to a nice rest ;) ;)
As this is the first referal I have had from a cleaning firm I wonder if I need to pay a fee,and if so how much??

Thanks in advance for any opinions you may have.

Merry christmas and a happy new year

Thanks  Barbara

If this is a deffinate referal job the best way to do this is to ask for the number of the college and contact them yourself, after thanking your new freind and assuring them you will repay the favour when it arrieses, this way you will be doing the job for yourself and should owe nothing back, otherwise your being subbed and if this is the case they would usaly look at taking 30% from you, the only problem here is the college is used to using people mainly at holiday times and will expect to pay nothing extra for this, there probably expecting something around £1 sqm  :P usaly not worth it but could lead to a steady flow of work

Happy holidays (work) ;D

Iwould suggest a nice gesture would assist in a possible 2 way referral system (what goes around comes around) A money payment may not be the best approach.  All the best. John

The referals i get are usually because the cleaning company wants to keep their customer happy by organising the clean for them, not for any financial gain.

I generally give a local cleaning company 10 - 15 %  or a fixed £25 depends but I do add it on to the end user and this does have its pros and cons.

We do referrals from cleaning companies. What tends to happen with us is that we do the job @ our normal cost & invoice the cleaning company. They can then choose to stick a mark up on or not, and they look good without doing anything!
Way of the world but it lines your pocket, don't be tempted to discount, you will then begrudge doing it over the crimbo period. >:(

give her somthing just to keep her sweet cause if you dont and sombody else does whos she gonna go to next time?
i would say anything to show your apreciation would be fine and from your relationship with this person you should be able to judge what is best maybey.

a thank you call.
pass some work back to her.
a cheque in the post.
a thank you letter.
a bottle of wine.
a box of chocalates.

Anything will do, just show your gratefull and you can be sure next time she hears of someone needing your services she will gladly pass them on to you again.
