Cleaning Whilst Avoiding Air Vent
« on: January 24, 2012, 05:52:47 pm »

If I go over to the dark side (water fed pole) what advice can you give on how to clean windows such as above without getting water in the vent. There doesn't seem enough room above the vent to direct water in a down wards direction. I have a quite a  few windows like this and I'm only now taking any notice of the vents and they are filling me with concern that I'm going to make a mess of them.

Nothing wrong in brushing a vent off with a dry brush. Cant do any damage to the glass that way.

youll be able to clean above the vent with the water on.scrub from side to side and rinse well.just make sure the brush is at an angle so you dont squirt water up into the vent.use pencil jets.after first clean out of the way just clean the glass and side/bottom frames and sill on maintenance cleans and only clean top frame when they look dirty.

that's not a difficult window. first time give really good scrubbing with water. afterwards just do below the vent. not had prob, just every so many months do whole lot to keep it looking good, so long as not squirting up into vent should be fine.

and as said, perhaps give good clean with scrim before change over to wfp.

I'd do same as Dazmond & AS , keep jets angled slightly downward. If you can, after doing the vent area, go off and do rest of house or other windows round the side and then come back and finish it off. You'll get the knack after you've done a few

Do left and right of the vent using loadsa water. Turn water off and dry brush the vent, get your bristles right up in there, poke it out, all the loose gunk and mucky stuff. Have a minute then wash the glass below as normal. Then, to save loads of time on subsequent clean's, keep clear off this part of the window till this time next year then repeat. If they complain, they are far far to fussy. Shoot them with a big gun and say....complain now ya dead bastird.

What he said.
A manager is generally someone who has been promoted to the position by someone else who didn't see them as a threat.
Hence all people are promoted to the level of their incompetence
