Take a look at this, whilst reeling in 100m of hose today the discs started to completely warp. How on earth is this possible?  ???
I noticed it warping when the disc started hitting the frame! Sure there was a bit of tension on it because of 100m standing out, and I reeled it in quick, but this shouldn't happen?

It's the Claber hosereel that can be bought from Gardiner's. Up to now I've been very pleased with it, lightweight but held up well until this, smooth reel too, effortless reeling in.

The day before my microbore punctured whilst using hot, again exactly where the microbore hoselock style connector is. First set of microbore completely ballooned there, (promptly replaced). This time it blew a hole, flooding the van. Whole van was a sauna, scary!

What will go wrong next?  :)

Same thing has happened to me using hot maybe the claber reels with metal disc would cope better.

It's the pressure from the hose. Mine did the same. It's the hose and not the reel that causes it. The hose isn't made for heat and just keeps expanding. Alex has some hot hose coming out soon.
Cold water users won't have any problems.

have you tried contacting Alex at gardiners. No mention that you have. I wondered what his answer was.

What make of hose is on the reel ??
Perhaps the hose is swelling enough to make the reel sides distort

He only said its the reel that can be bought from Gardiners so people know what he is on about. Some of you sycophants need to get a grip. We all love Gardiners but come on, I doubt very much whether Alex Gardiner would be bothered by that comment, but probably cringes at how eager some of you are to jump up his backside.

Sorry!!! :o :o

In its own right the reel is made by Claber. I own one too. Mine is fine. I was asking if he had contacted Gardiners as it seemed like he had bought it from them. All too often people come on here with photos and long complaints and haven't even spoken to the original supplier of the goods , giving them chance to respond.  The opening post was polite and informative. My question asked if gardiners had responded as I was interested in their answer.
Hope my statement hasn't offended you.

Sorry for the late reply, my Internet was down due to technical issues in my postcode area.

THis is nt quite on topic so apologies

but whats on your van floor tim??

Floor mat, was an optional extra I believe on the old old model berlingo.

it looks like it has been bent outwards when pulling the reel out of the van

It's a fixed reel, hose goes down a cabinet mount on the floor, then roller winch mounted underneath the bumper. The hose goes straight down. It started flexing and bending when I was reeling it in. It was fine before then, for months. The reel gets warm even when using hot, not going into meltdown.  :)

True, but the pressure was way down to 7 on the digi Varistream. And seeing as it causes problems at the same point seems that the hoselock style connector setup as opposed to the angled barb from the metal hose reels seems to be an issue. I've cable tied the hose down to the inner parts because the hose seems to keep twisting otherwise. The hose isn't swelling excessively at that pressure. I thought it was holding up quite well actually until that happened.

Did you buy the reel from Gardeners? If not you are doing that company harm.If they were not the supplier then don`t use the name.Come on Mate do it rite.

I wouldn't be able to dent their reputation if I took a sledge hammer to it.   :)
Incidentally I did buy it at Gardiner's. But, this isn't a Gardiner's reel, it's from Claber.

I thought it was kind of obvious to post it on a forum, get feedback to see if any other users are experiencing similar issues, perhaps me being the problem. That's the whole point of a forum I'd imagine. When I contact a supplier I like to have as much info on what went wrong and then filter the info back to the supplier. They in turn can filter that back to the manufacturer and come to some sort of answer as to what could have gone wrong.

Personally thought it was kind of amusing to see the reel like this, and thought it would be interesting to share, as you don't see these things everyday.  :P

If I thought that posting something on here would cause any bad rep to Alex and Kirsty I wouldn't dream of putting in on here.

No offence caused spongebob.
