Depends on what job I would guess v round income but that's just a purely financial viewpoint

You then get into being own boss v answering to a boss.

Simple answer is, make yourself money or make someone else money!

I used to be an underwriter in Lloyds insurance market years ago, worked in australia, singapore, hong kong,thailand...one day i had an idea i would like to work for myself,so instead of trying to start say an insurance brokerage (which was easy to do in those days) i decided on another venture, one thing led to another and another and another until one day i got into window cleaning....
The moral of my story is if you have a decent career with prospects then dont be a ferking idiot like me and end up ragging windows, but if you have a job where you are plodding along in life not happy with the future then window cleaning seems to be just as good a job as any....still a sh 1te  job though cleaning dirty glass and plastic. :)

For me this is a no brainier really. Was a scaffolder for ten years, used to earn 120 a day, the job was poop really, always on muddy sites, always. Being moaned at to get more done, leaving the house a 5.30 every morning, not getting in till 6.

Now I clean windows and canvass. No muddy sites, no stupid hard hat, no leaving the house till 8, at the earliest. I earn more now, in less hours.

And no whining from a t£&t of a boss ;D

i used to do landscape gardening starting a 730am-6pm.back breaking work and rubbish money.before that i worked on farms.again early starts/late finishes.

ive never worked full time for years.i couldnt!! ;D ;D ;D ;D

i used to play drums a lot in bands so the early starts were getting harder to get up for.i hated having to get up and force myself to go to work.

oh and i liked wild parties and women!!working full time didnt fit in with my lifestyle!!! ;D ;D ;D

my attitude is different from say daniel worgans.i love having a window cleaning business.

freedom being your own boss and flexibility are priceless.money is better as well.very low stress.....what more could you ask for?

......oh and your not gonna get sacked.perfect occupation for me. ;D ;D

It sounds to me along with your other thread about window cleaning for the rest of your life that you have made your decision to get out of the business, self employment and owning your own business is not for everybody, some prefer the comfort of regular wage, holidays etc.
It all depends how ambitious you are, there are plenty of cleaning companies out there turning over £millions per anum, I bet a lot of them started out just window cleaning.
There are plenty of online courses out there to help you gain new skills, read, read and read some more, and dot forget that the best university is the university of life, just because some people who have a degree, don't be intimidated, it only means that they are able to learn.
Stick with it the potential is HUGE.

I enjoy running my own business.

I know someone who was employed and worked for the same company for 30 years... They were made redundant on the 23rd December 2011 and told not to come back in... They only got a pay off enough to keep them going for 3 months!

Look after yourself, thats what I say!

We enjoy having our own business and thats what it is really about, enjoying it! There are down sides of course there are, but we make our own future :)

That is terrible about the redundancy and the pay off, but that shows what a horrible mess some companies are in doesn't it. Is this because they had lost reality over the past few "boom" years?

Hope he/she finds something soon, cos after 30 years he is going to be lost without any work.

Andy look out for us on FB as would like to discuss something with you :)

Think you need to be getting a job Hank to be honest., its a question that dont need to be asked if you are happy running your own succesful business.

For you to sit down and ask that on here, suggests to me you are not happy runnung a business of your own....

Negativity creeping in me thinks.
