to do or not to do?
« on: January 16, 2012, 10:04:59 am »
I just got a phone call of a lady asking if I would clean her windows as her current window cleaner has turned to drink. Now the question I am asking is this. Do I take the job and canvass the area, or do I leave well alone as its some one elses work?

If you do be careful.there might be a reason he has turned to drink.

Alot of window cleaners in my area, dont have a contact number at all, just a slip they put through a door when they have cleaned there windows. No website, advertising, Marketing, How are people meant to contact them.

My advice again try to contact this bloke some how, even ask that women. Like me i fair window cleaner never want to pinch work, i like to think i can get to where i wanna be by my own achiecvements and say i did that by myself.

tell her to sack the window cleaner and then give you a ring if your bothered, but if she isnt satified with the current service yiu are doing nothing wrong! the inly time your doing anything wrong is if you undercut the current windy with full intentions of nicking is work!

:)i would ask how long its been since last window cleaner , if customers says two or three months thats ussually enough for me to agree to doing job as its unlikley they are comming back , I certainly would give previous windie benefit and if its only a few weeks id ask her to hang on and see if he turns up . In this case it sounds like custie wants new cleaner full stop and if its clear she wasnt happy with other guy then go ahead.
As others say there is lots of houses for us to clean ,not worth upsetting someone over a few quid but as above if its been crap service for custie then other guy needs to address his shortcommings or keep loosing custom.

If you have a conscience problem with this (good for you) then there is no problem leafleting the area and couple of times, stressing that you are a reliable window cleaner etc.
If they contact you and accept your quote, then it's the customers decision.
