Van Waterproofing

Just wondered what everyone else is or has used for waterproofing and there pros and cons etc.

ie
Speedlining
U-Pol Raptor
Protectakote

Restoremate sell protectacote, my own thoughts are that how much heavier will it make the van?

Nick,

Speedliner has worked extremely well for me. I had the van floor, walls and shelves protected and it all still looks good 6.5 years down the line.

Tried protectakote in my last van and lasted about 6 months before it started looking terrible.

I have protectacoted a couple of vans and wasnt impressed it seems to peal where knoked. I'm going to re-ply my current van and then glass fibre it with the same stuff used for grp roofing. I think this will be a lot harder wearing and easier to wipe clean than protectacote.

i used protectokote to do up to the arches on my van   found it a pig of a job to do but is still looking good 18 month later

Hi Shaun,

No the Thermalwave is nearly 3.5 years old. I put it in my old van that the Performer came out of.

used to line-x ( speedliner) its great but pricey, most people think it weird when reselling it,   and since then I've just drilled holes and fitted drains works well, Mercs come with that waterproof board which lasts for ages even when wet

Well I bit the bullet and have gone for the U-Pol Raptor, almost identical to speedliner on all accounts, sprayed that whole floor area and 300mm up the sides last night, It has turned out better than expected and looks and feels the same as speedliner. Cost was £52 + VAT and borrowed a compressor from a friend so a big bonus considering the £'s they charge for speedliner.

Time will tell but looks very very promising. :D
