those who work in pairs
« on: November 11, 2011, 06:50:13 am »
good morning all, managed to finish before friday ! but dont get me wrong i worked monday to thursday 7.30 till 3.30 to get here :-)

I have a question for those who work in pairs , im taking the missus on every now an then to help me so what i am doing, is i am taking a backpack and she is going to work from the van mount.

My question is this, i was going to have one on the bottoms and the other on the tops as i only have one long clx and another small pole, however would it be quicker to buy another long pole like 18clx and me do the backs with the pack and for her to do the fronts witht the van mount ?

so is it quicker for me on tops and her on bottoms or me on back her on front ?

cheers guys

front and backs,  if next to each other you will get in each others way

thye fastest and easiest way is to hit 1 house each . unless it is a really akward backs . then maybe the backpack . 2 poles on 1 house is a waste ;)

agreed. our houses are 8-10 quid, we have several in one hit so do a house each. on bigger houses will do front and backs, we both use 18 foot poles.

Why don't you just use the van mount for tops and connys and get the missus to trad the ground floors and collect fr the customer and put tickets through the doors?if she wears a bottle on a belt no need to carry bucket.she can leave it in the van.
price higher/work harder!

My Mrs has a slx 18ft, it does for 90% of our work
I use a slx 22 ft
Sometimes we will be on the same house together, but mostly we work on different houses, depends if it compact or not.
If your Mrs is going to use the van mount ,and you the backpack,i would suggest either invest in a trolley system, or buy a trolley for your backpack to sit on,and attatch with bungee.
Also my Mrs always does the door knocking bit,as im just eager to get on to the next house myself

It's very rare that we both work on the same house, unless it's a biggie. Normally we take separate sides of the street, I also leave her to collect whilst I reel in, in other words I take all the jobs that require grunt and no finesse.

As for poles, get her the lightest possible, an slx 18 would be best. Women are made very differently to men and if you let her do heavier work ie lifting backpacks or reeling in, even pulling out or working with a heavier pole it will take it toll on her in ways that you daren't think about.
