« on: November 18, 2005, 04:50:36 pm »
Read a while ago that some people are offering free cleans six to 12 months later  WHAT  :o :o :o :o :o

Couldent bring myself to that but ensentifs do work, free room, 10% off etc
I use free hall and stairs cleaned when you have lounge cleaned AND stain gaurded, yep tight you may think. YEP  8)

But thinking of a new 1, what do you think !!!!!! ::)

Give out five referal vouchers to custy, describing that if they use all five and acheive bookings from these vouchers they get there next clean for free needs some refining, just to make sure that they dont have there suite, carpets, curtains, car, boat done

What about 10% off up to a max of 50%(5 x 10%) with discount not exceeding £50.

Cheers

Got the idea from a solor heating comp, costs £8000 to install, but if you refer a freind just for a phone call they give u £25 quid back £50 for a veiwing and quote but if you get six people to buy for them, full refund not bad on something that cost that much hay  ::)

Hi James

Read with interest, It's me that is offering the Free re-clean between 6-12 months.  Plan of action is to raise the basic and protector prices of the cleaning for people that want this offer.

6000 Leaflets went out on Monday and have had 15 calls with confirmed booking for 10 jobs. Not a bad return for only 5 days.

The art with this is to think they are getting something for nothing when i reality they are not.  Obciously I am going to be down for the secound clean but not as much as not gettin the work in the first place.  Art is to get through the door then you can plant the seeds for other cleaning such as Upholstery.

It does work and is money in the bank.

Your thoughts are much appreciated. who needs Joe Polish.

Cheers

Neil

iv brought out a new leaflet with 3 offers on it

get two carpets cleaned and get the third free

get your suite cleaned and we clean your lounge carpet or rug free

get your carpets cleaned and get a free reclean in six months

with the reclean i tell them its only a freshen up just the main traffic areas and any marks,  we will not move furniture and will not use hand tool round edges and radiators etc.

also tell them its up to them to call me anytime in that month to arrange the reclean,

this means they will definatly keep your number for at least the next six months, so they will have it there to recommend you or if they need somthing else cleaning etc.

another thing i am doing is sending my customers letters offering there money back for reccomendations, the way i do this is give all my previous customers a account number, i then send them a letter telling them this and asking them to reccomend me to friends and to make sure there friend quotes me this number when they call, if i then do work for that person i send them a cheque for £10.

so if i do £80 worth of work for sombody i send  8 cards worth £10 each to them, if i do £100 worth 10 cards etc.

How about,

Instead of Giving away Free Room, ie 200sq feet to try your service.

Say to customer,

Pay Me what you think I am worth.

Just another Idea from my new Marketing Book.

Sorry Just Re Read it.

Pay what you think the job is worth.

Best to try it in a wealthy area.

Shaun,

It was on Ebay I   think it  cost £20 Buy it now including  carriage
204 pages

There are one or two ideas worth trying

Just diffrent twists

He tends to work on Room prices ie two for xxxxxx

Hall Stairs Landing Dinning Room Lounge.

Not $15 a room

Although he has prices he says test acording to area.

Upmarket areas may not respond to low price point.

Blue Colloar , Lower middle Class may not respond to high

He claims over 30,000 customers to his cleaning company
I would say however his aim is for volume of work so his concepts are not to obtain top price,

But he is not Splash and Dash or Bait and Switch

Mainly diffrent twists and reminders of marketing ideas to get people to phone you.

i think the pay what you think idea could work,
although iv never advertised it i have said this to a customer once.
the reason i said this to them was i was offered the job as there previous c/c had damaged there carpet, so they wanted somone new when they asked me how much i just said i would do it for watever there last cleaner had charged them.
wich turned out to be £100 for 5 bedrooms h/s/l.
which used to take him 2 hours.
so i just said give me what you think its worth at the end of the job.
six hours later once they see the extra work involved and the improved results they gave me £220.

id be carefull the sort of areas you advertise anything like this in though

I think you would have to be very selective. The Joe polish Quick start one is to Clean a room upto  200 square feet for Free.

But then you also do a Healthy Home Audit and if you are good get extra work.

Prior togoing you condition your custmer

With this one most people would feel obligated to pay you a reasonable amount.

Especially if you combiedit with other marketing pieces in advance of the clean date conditioning the customer

He does say its not for the Faint Hearted.

Ive tried the customer referral thing and youll get a few but generally people havent the time to think about you once your gone.  usually the ones who hang unto vouchers etc are the price sensitive type anyway.  Also it requires a lot of your time to keep track etc.

I going to start leaving a questionaire with room for names of friends who they think could use us and a SAE.  They send this back to me and I then mail these 'referrals' info on my business and some offers so its me doing the work.

Ive tried offers to encourage spending more ie. 4for3, 3for2, suite and 2 rooms £20 off etc.  Problem is these days a lot of people havent got 4 carpets in their house to clean or they only want one cleaned to try your service.  Previous customer tend to spend more and refer more too.

Ive thought about offering free protector as its not costing us much but at the same time keeps our job ticket up.

A problem Im having is customers who used me 2 years ago with an offer for suite cleaned and carpet cleaned for half price are more resistant to paying the normal price including annual price rise this time round.
