FIRST 3PC SUITE
« on: November 10, 2005, 04:03:06 pm »
Hello everyone got my first paid 3 pc suite to clean it's been at least 5 months since i did my 1 day hands on course in royston, business has only been running properly for a month now.

ANY ADVICE OR TIPS FROM YOU EXPERIENCED PROFFESIONALS WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED THEY CANT TEACH EVERYTHING IN ONE DAY , HOWEVER THE INSTRUCTORS WERE EXCELLENT.

Best regards

Mat ;D

Mat,

General rules.

Check the condition of the suite first , look for any evidence of wear, colour run , impossible to remove stains.

Test for colour bleed in an inconspicuous place.

Pre spray, work in with a microfibre cloth.

Extract  gently observing all the time.

Start with water at say 50c and increase if required and suite will take it.

Bear in mind almost all suites are wet cleanable if you go carefully.

good luck.

Doug

Do your checks.  You dont want it to shrink, distort, colour bleed, tear, fall apart etc.  You dont want to buy a £2000 suite in your first week :'(

Use a drop cloth in case you scratch the wooden floor as it may cost ££££ to replace or fix :-[

Apart from that just go do it collect your cash and run as fast as possible ;)

Works for me :D

Don't be scared, do your tests first, if everythings ok just get on and clean it. Can't see what all this mystery is about cleaning upholstery, worst part is the strain it puts on your back.
I try to avoid using too many products on upholstery. Find out what the material is and use a suitable product for that material, occasionally you may need to use an additional product for some stubborn areas such as hair grease marks.
It is good to have a system which can make the job easier.
Personally I take all the cushions off, after doing tests. Then I clean the frame of an armchair, if thats ok I go on to clean the frame of a sofa. Then I clean the cushions, pyramiding them on the sofa whilst I clean the last chair (3 pce) with an airmover blowing on them if required. Cleaned hundreds in 11 years and never had a problem.
I'll probably knack one next week now!

Yep, the citrus pre-spray is ideal for suites, especially if they are a bit grubby. You can use Ultimate Master as a pre-spray as well if you're not too sure when you get there.

No, I don't. The truth is I liked m/s and found them easy to use, but my referral and call back rate dropped through the floor though, and I honestly believe using m/s causes rapid re-soiling. The first person to notice was my partner as I often clean my own carpets because we have 3 dogs. She actually asked me to "use the old stuff" as it left the carpets cleaner, brighter and fresher.

I really don't want to kick off another m/s debate, but this is my experience of using m/s and I'm not going back.

Interesting - I find m/s good on synthetic velvets like Dralon but not so good on Polyester / cotton / viscose blends.
