AA RAC or Green Flag or someone else.
« on: October 13, 2011, 10:56:37 am »
Any of you guys use a recovery service.
Had used AA for some years and they were very good, but the price kept going up.
Got free RAC cover last year with my insurance, but the renewal has come thru a bit pricey.

Any opinions on this would be welcome.
Needs to be suitable for a van obviously.

I'm a green flag member, only used once & can't really fault them, even sent me a £!0 because they were late picking me up, puncture on a bike.

I think the sub out all there work, i was recovered by mansfields.

I use my tesco vouchers to buy my rac cover, you need roughly £40 in vouchers.

The AA guy said something about this when the cambelt went on my car, but to be honest I wasn't listening (to be busy mithering) how does it work please, does that payment cover all your bills or some of them?

my wife and i have the ultimate reward account with the halifax which you pay £15.00 a month for and get £5.00 back every month plus you get other insurances.

Such as home emergency cover .  worlrdwide travel insurance  and  AA breakdown cover is one of them which includes home start  and national recovery which is £99 on their website .

What i used to do before that was cancel AA cover each year then take it out again and get it far cheaper . MIKE

Halifax is not that good a deal because if you want to call the AA you have to call Halifax to call the AA and they will slow the process down. You cannot call direct to the AA.

If you're with the the AA or RAC and have a Transit/Vivaro size van you must tell them as they class it as a commercial vehicle. Else your cover is void. I only recently found this out, so for the past 2 years I've been pretty much wasting my money if I had broken down in that vehicle.

Hi mate the aa garage cover works like this you can make up to 3 claims per year and they will pay the first £500 per claim. you have to pay the first £25 so if the repair lets say comes to £475 then all you pay is £25 if the repair comes to £1000 then you would have to pay £525. hope that helps dave
