hard water spots on windows
« on: January 04, 2012, 10:19:56 am »
morning all
whilst a customer was having his commercial property refurbed, his windows have developed hard water staining from no obvious source.Although we haven't been there for 4 months,I'm amazed at the rapid deteriation to their present condition.
Needless to say,I would like to get the windows looking how they were before we went off site
Any tips welcome please(does dilute vinegar solution work?)We normally would pole this job,but would happpily go to traditional if its a better result

You can buy mineral deposit remover from window cleaning equipment suppliers or try Viakal Limescale Remover spray from the supermarket.
With the Viakal I spray it on the affected area and leave for a couple of minutes and then buff with a cloth and rinse off. You might have to repeat the process if all the staining doesn't come off first time.
Try to avoid getting the Viakal on window frames and sills just as a precaution.
If those methods do not work you might have to use a scraper or 000 FINE or 0000 SUPER FINE  wire wool.
I would charge the customer extra to do this as it is an additional service to cleaning the windows.
