I think the tinted part is on the inner face of the spacer bar mate so it should be ok and yes it's called k-glass ur right

there is a coating on some new glass...think its called k coating...but what ever the name...it scratches easilly....cant even use a brand new razor on it

awful stuff...i think it MAY be the reason for some brand new glass not sheeting off with WFP...but its only a guess

K glass has a infra-red absorbing layer on the inside and filled with argon gas to keep heat in.   The outer layered-glass is like on large buildings that are not see through and some shop fronts with a frosted finish, most have a filtered effect or for privacy.

Really that's got to be an error at the factory when putting the units together. Is this on every house in the estate your cleaning on?

you can ask in a glass factory for a k tester
this is what they use to tell wich side of the glass has the k coating on it
they use this when making the units up so they get the right side facing in,
the k coating is on the inside of the unit and if put togher properly you will never be able to scrstch the k coating if made up right, but mistakes happen....
keep it simple

i came across LOW E glass on a house . new windows that looked tinted as you walked towards them, but they werent tinted. they were a devil to squeegee, felt as if they were rubber coated . i always had to touch up the edges with scrim.  in the spacer bar and on the corner of each pane  it had the words LOW E  printed

luckily for me after about a year they cancelled saying the husband was going to start cleaning them, which was a bit weird as the month before they had asked me to step up the cleaning from 6 to 4 weekly.   i say luckily cos i always wondered what theyd do if a scratch had appeared on the windows ,im sure that E layer would scratch easily if a scraper ever had been used or if the film  layer wore through after a few years of cleaning

I think what is interesting about all cleaning of glass is that before each double glaze unit is put together in the factory the glass comes in 6ft by 8ft sheets. There are around 100 sat on top of each other on a pellet and each one have a scratch proof film on it which I think causes your problem.  There is a correct way that each sheet should face before the two sheets are vac sealed I remember this cause I was always in the factory nicking spare parts when I was a fitter because I'd forget to put stock sheets in lol.

The k glass will have a small stamp on it saying k glass on it.
