cheers lads i know what it is now it happend again today .
all of a sudden the water stoped , still couldnt see what the problem was so i started the van up and left it runing till i finished the job i was doing and the water was pumping , went to the next job and it did it again so i looked at the digital controller and what i thought was a (bu) was indeed a (bat) wich told me it was the battry that had gone ,
so got a new one today.
Yes the control is fitted with a voltage meter the BAT will display if the voltage measured at the control is 11.5V or less. If the voltage drops below 11V the control will shut the pump down to protect the battery. Sound like you have a split relay somewhere on your system which will help maintain some charge in your battery.
The 11V shut down is based on information we were given by battery manufactures who advised us that if the pump continued to draw from a battery with less than 11V would do long term damage to the battery.
There is a difference between voltage tested at the battery terminal and at the controller. This is because depending on the length of cables there is a voltage drop down the length of the cable.
Our technical wiz is looking at a way we can measure the battery voltage more accurately.
Glad you have located the issue let me know how it goes, as the manufacturer we like to know how the control performs out in the real world
