best I have seen             0800 £10 for 1000 minutes                     area code £25 set up 1.5p per minute

how does that work? (curious, not doubting you  )

BT give you another number on your landline, this
number has a different ring to your normal number.
A bit like assigning different rings on a mobile to your
contacts.
I think it's about £6 pm for the alternate number.

But don't the advertisers/scam artists dial the number you use for business anyway? ie they find your business number off Google/Yell?

Good for seperating work/personal calls, although if like me you have no friends, this is not really an issue anyway?

I've just renewed my mobile contract with Vodafone to get their One Net Express package. It gives you up to 5 different geographic landline numbers that all terminate on your mobile (different area codes) and when you call customers, you can display the landline number as the outgoing caller ID. A big benefit has to be no call forwarding charges from a fixed landline.

You can also call 0800, 0845 and 0870 with no extra charge and you get all inclusive landline and mobile calls. £55 a month has to be worth it!
