I just looked as I didn't know what you were on about, but now I do :o, how embarrassing, I only typed in on google was diy calibration solution at that was one of the first pages  :D

Why would you want to do this?

You are only interested in the meter being fairly accurate in the 000 to 040 range - and it isn't really that important even then, is it?

Imagine having a meter ruler that is, say, 10% too long. If you're only interested in measuring things a few millimeters long and to the nearest millimeter, 10% error is not important.

And the other point is how are you going to ensure that the amount of salt that you weigh out is going to be accurate? Do you have an accurate chemical balance?

It's an interesting thing to think about, but quite impractical and unnecessary.
