Fishing Pole Carry Problem
« on: July 24, 2011, 09:03:31 am »
Any of you fella`s having the same problem as myself regarding
Fishing poles.
When the sections are stored internally between using and when
In ya vehicle travelling etc etc etc the cap ends soon and easily
Spring and fall off at both ends with the sections `spilling`out.
I`ve tried wrapping cellatape around the ends, stuffing sponges
On the inside to perhaps give it more `banjo`and hold more secure
But nothing I`ve done seems to work.I`ts starting to get on my `wick` :-[ ??? :-\

Replies hopefully anyways much appreciated.

Hi lewis.
My original fishing pole setup that we still use from time to time comprises of 5 full sections of the original Ron Thompson pole and a small 6th section that the threaded adapter is glued into. The 5th & 6th section are stored in the van with the brush head and tubing and makes quite a nice light downstairs pole for the wife to use occassionally.

Of the remaining 4 sections, I have left as the top 2 and the bottom 2 as sections and store and use them this way. If the whole pole is too long them I can remove sections one by one as necessary. This means that when taking the sections out of the van, I take out 2 longer poles and a third with the brush and hose.

I found it easier to manage that way. I always had trouble assemblying the poles, so ended up finding that this was the best method for me. I have also repaired a couple of sections the I have managed to stand on with fibreglass, so the poles would fit into each other now anyway.

My main everyday pole is now a Gardiner CLX 22 as I find it quicker and more convenient, but still use the fishing pole for gutter and fascia cleans as it is so light and rigid. I use it with a Gardiner double trim superlite brush 15 degree bristle splay and find it works perfectly.

You can use almost any secondhand fishing pole- look on fleabay . All fishing poles store inside the base section, if you use pvc tape on the thick ends and build it up you will have have a wear  restrictor and also a Ring of tape that prevents the poles sliding inside each other. Guttering is a good idea but I use light roofing sheets cause I used to have quite a number of sections.

but if you want them loose when on a job any old golf trolley will do to store them seperate and to hand. if its a simple push trolley then tie a brick over  the front wheel otherwise the length of the pole sections will tip the trolley over. These just happen to be 10mph powered and are brilliant, if any one wants to know how just ask and I will post it up one rainy day.

Elite @ 770gm at 13.5m and 10 times the price of a poormans M16.
Do you remeber the guy who was buying a £4k Tungsten pole for w/cing would that be any better than your Elite @ 16m ?
