My fellow director Martin Holden will, on the 31st July he will take part in his 4th UK Iron Man triathlon. This involves swimming 2.4 miles in open water, cycling 112 miles and then running a marathon. Having completed the event twice before in 2007 and 2009 his entry this year is somewhat different. With the aid of a small team of other triathletes he is busy helping to organise for 20 injured service men and women to take part in the event, with support from Martin and his team. Many of these servicemen and women have lost multiple limbs
Martin has been heavily involved for the past 12 months in organising sponsorship, liaising with the event organisers and even designing the website for Team True Spirit -
http://www.truespirit.org.uk - which has been set up to raise funds for these brave men and women. Please have a look at the website to see for yourself the specially made bikes that they will be using
To compete in an Iron Man when fully able bodied is difficult enough, to do it with missing limbs is just unbelievable. Whilst I don't want to look like I am coming to you lads (and ladies) cap in hand, if any one can help in any way, whether its by donating money or helping to raise the profile please do so.
Many thanks for reading this post.
