[Craig - CW Window Cleaning]

I have had an enquirie about about moths eggs/ lava in carpet, tiny lava about 5mm long
Going to be doing a HWE in the usual way, would spraying something like promite help protect and kill any further eggs/lava ?
Never had this before...

any advice welcome

Chemspec chemtreat will help with this. There may well be others. It's the only one I have any working experience with. I have a lot of rug studios using it to protect their stock.

i get quite a few jobs to do with carpet moths .  you need to check behind all the furniture as they love dark areas. in severe cases he only remedy is to scrap the carpet and underlay.    you can get some carpet insectacide from restormate . used it quite a lot and has always done the trick. never used promite so not sure of its uses

It could well be carpet beetle. I am seeing more and more infestations in recent years. Click on the link below to see some info I did for my clients. There is also a video produced by Manchester museum in the link showing the life cycle of the carpet beetle.

I tend to swerve dealing with these infestations and leave it to Rentokill. They are notoriously difficult to eradicate.

Nigel is correct, they are a nightmare to get rid of.

the reson being is they love to be where human don't go, under beds, wardrobes etc.

Plus they migrate out, so once they pupate they leave the nest and move to another part of the carpet or in another room.

The only way to eradicate for sure is to replace all the carpets, I've seen nests of 1m wide.
