cimex motor.
« on: June 17, 2011, 06:24:48 pm »

Bit of a problem whilst giving a commercial custy a demo the other day, every thing fine untill i turned it off and then attemted to turn it on again, nothing but a click and a buzzing from the electric motor, after seeking a little advise from a cpl of people as to what they think it could be the same answer was given to me,  more than likely the capaciiter.....  ok lets order a new one, bit of a shock when the reply as to my enquiry.

Geoff,

I have been onto the manufacturer and they have told me that they only sell the motor and capacitor as one unit. This would explain why you cannot see the capacitor as a separate part.

The cost of this would be £420.73 + VAT.

Kind Regards,

I do find this hard to believe but decided to take motor cover off and sitting next to motor was a capaciter, simpley connected by 2 push clips, all i can assume is another must be hidden some where  else ???
any one any ideas ?
Geoff

From what they have told you Geoff that would be my first guess, but you know how these things are. Why don't you take the capacitor you can see off and get it tested. If it is that one then you will get it for peanuts.
It's not expensive, you just can't afford it.

I had a Chemstractor years ago that needed a capacitor Richard at Chemspec advised me to go to an electrical wholesaler and get one as it would be far cheaper than him buying the 'branded one', that's why Chemspec are a brilliant company to deal with!

geoff you need to get onto an american forum and ask them what the score is, I would even look for Rick Gelinas and send him an email.

My Oreck Low boy had a capacitor that wasn't mounted on the side, Hull Vac told me if I used it without it the machine might start but would burn out after 20 mins

Mike you could be right but I'm guessing that the motor on it will be a UK 240v may be worth going into an electrical engineers or a place that do rewinds.
