It says in Prochems websight that acid rinse will neutralise she smell of urine, has anyone tried this, does it work and do you just spray it on?

Well I think that answers my question, was something I've never seen or heard before, seems I'm not the only one.

When the bacteria feeds on the urine it produces ammonia which is high ph. You will have crystal salts which will only return to solution if you use an acid and is why you should first use an acid prespray, dwell, extract, then clean as normal.

With a TM the heat and the shear volume of water/acid rinse going through may be enough, but I don't risk it on obvious problems.

Urine turns from an acid to an alkali over time, it is the alkali that causes the problems with fibre damage / discolouration and also the smell. Using an acid prespray will help the problem to some extent

Why arque with Prochem but they also do a urine neutraliser which is what i would use

I would also inject it into back of carpet with a syringe  unless you are able to take carpet up and work from back.

Obviously you need to know exactly where it is.

I reads a comment by the rug chick once Lisa Wagner saying she does not approve of companies selling special products to do specific jobs

For example Urine Neutraliser is an acid so is acid rinse could the technically minded explain what one product has that the other does not.

I  agree Ian, Prochems coffee stain remover is basically browning prescription diluted down and ready to use, same as Ultrapac renovate and Filter out its just a marketing ploy
