Just found these much cheaper, also the red plastic denotes original spec carbon,so they don't wear out as quick, going to get some and see what they are like,as one of my motors requires them changing

That's good to hear, was going to make sure it was genuine,as it states that in his add.
The motor that had gone was getting on for 18 months old,it's the longest I have had one last,so yeah the new one will be my new spare one.

Anyone know what the max allowable end float is on a Lamb vac motor ? Really surprised the one I took out today was not making more of a noise, the amount of play there was

Well you can move the bit on the top with the vanes on a good couple of mm in all directions, bearings must be gone, brushes were worn half way down.

New motor turned up yesterday, very impressed,it's all metal construction, where the others have all bee plastic, one of the mounting lugs on the one I took out had snapped off.
Hopefully it will be another 18 months or more before I have to replace it

If you are careful with the foam it should last a lot longer than that.
Keep a rough note of the hours if there is not an hourmeter. Check the brushes and blow the carbon out after 5-600 hrs.
One motor in my machine has been in for 8yrs and over 2000 hrs several sets of brushes.
