whats the best way to clean a clx pole, have stripped it down in to sections and removed the tapes as they keep sticking, going to wash the insides of the poles out and get rid of the grit, what should i use on the outside of the poles
Once the pole has been cleaned and freed from grit, allow the sections to dry fully (a quick blast from an electric heat gun will help). Then re-apply the joint stop tape in the correct place before applying any treatment. If using insulating tape one and a quarter turns is all that is needed. If using fibre-glass reinforced tape then just one turn with no overlap is needed.
If you want to treat the surface of the poles:
Do not use any oil based lubricant (WD40, GT-85, etc) as this can damage the carbon and adhesive. Silicon based household polish works well - do not use wax based polishes as these will build a layer up that will attract dirt. Personally if you want to treat the surface with anything I would recommend using a dry-film PTFE spray. This leaves a dry PTFE film on the sections which will help repel dirt and the effects of its abrasion.
