It varies for me. Over last few years I've spent £100's on Yellow pages, yell, local newspapers, church mags, leaflets etc.
However these days I'm more cautious as to what type of advertising I'm going to spend my hard earned cash on.
At moment I have leaflets ( 10,000 per year = £90) Local church mag =£180 per year for 12 issues. That's about it really. Though I do get a few peeps looking at my van signs and then approaching me about potential work.

prob about £400 a year.

only about £100 or so on flyers as they will last a prob 2 years.

then we get loopfobs.

we do a small road show type thing - one part of it: we hire a space at shopping centre on a saturday = £180.
we split the cost with another one or two companies ie carpet cleaners & oven cleaners.

this works really well - if you could picture it: a stand with different cleaning companys on each corner, its like a bloody magnet for the customers to come and ask a tonne of questions and get advice and quotes.

we pick up around 20 - 35 regular monthly customers and about 10 con valet cleans from it on the day and then we get about 20 phone calls in the few months after.

Pay £27 a month on local mags for area and pick up between £75 to £100 worth of monthy cleans from it so more than pays for itself. I find i get a better response rate from local mags than i do from yell/yellow pages  ;D
