well im a newbie'ish. I say ish as I started late last year and worked through the cold and that snow!
I was not going to go full hog until I got my toes well and trully wet so only threw a grand on kit. if it works out ill put a fixed tank in the van.
I put out 1000 flyers this week and got 1 new custy, I then find out theres some young guys going around charging £6 for a semi. good job windows arnt my only and I will just keep plodding on and hopefully they will dye off first sight of the cold. just like fleas

The window cleaners that are coming out of winter hibernation only aim turnover what they want in wages. eg if they are happy with getting an easy £50 they will work till they get that then they forget about expences. then they not insured, their equipment is rubbish; they just buy cheap.  no money for expences and most these cowboys pee it up against the wall.

for newbies that are determined its hard to start off i remember canvassing areas just to be laughed off as some idiot used to charge 50p or less a window in 2006, some bloke nearly had an heart attack cos i quoted a 3 bedroom house for £8, he said the other bloke used to charge £3.

to be honest now will loads of cowboys about cleaning traditionaly, i feel more of a tradesman using the pole system, not many cowboy will buy a pole system.

well I'm not alone then. its just today got a hard knock off a supplier just because i did not have a tank in the van.
I came home and worked out how much id spent so far and it fell to just under the grand mark, but there are all those little bits I have had and not put through the books. well a base tank system would only cost £1800 ish, whats the big deal...
I will hopefully put a fixed tank in the van but I will build my own frame etc, I got slated for this idea.

darn it I went from school into engineering and could  weld before i was 17, and thats when things like tig and mig were really modern tech, I know my steels and alloys I even have my own workshop kitted with lathe, miller, finisher, horizontal and vertical band-saws, floor standing drill, polishers, mig, tig, plasma, English wheel, folder, wheeling jenny let alone all the tooling. fasteners stock, pneumatic coupling stock, materials Etc
put it all together and I have been around engineering for 29 years. so whats the big deal? anyone with a plastic card can turn around and buy frames to sell on, I think its a bit more of a person who can sit down design something in C.A.D and then go out and put it into reality.

back onto subject thanks for the support...

Funny how this effects some areas more than others. We have had 1 flyer through the door in this last year - I know the company who posted the flyers, but have never seen them around, so presume that they didn't get much response. I've only got a couple of cleans on the estate, as 2 other windies have the area pretty much covered.
