orderd one it came today looks ok apart from all the fixings are plastic so dont know how long it will last if anyone else buys one dont buy the optinal connection pack it is not what you see in the picture they show a nice metal connector with the white plastic bit the hose gos onto instead you get a normal plastic hose conector with a bit of hose in and a joiner clamped in you get the swival brass one but not worth the £9.95 +vat :o

Hi Boldy

We are sorry that you are slightly disappointed. If you have not used the connector pack then please send it back for a full refund (please ring and get a returns number first). The 'posher' looking metal Microbore connector does not actually last as long or work as well (as we have recently found out) so we 'upgraded' it to the slightly more agricultural, but more pricey and time consuming to assemble option we are supplying. The components in the connector pack would actually costs £0.82 more if purchased separately and would then have to be self-assembled. We have a much more compact two-piece connector/adapter coming to replace the current option, but unfortunately it has been delayed in shipping. This item will also work well like the current option. We have now also changed the composite photo in the product picture to more accurately represent the current connector's appearance.

With regard to the plastic components in the metal hose reel pack. These thermoplastic components are all chosen very carefully by the manufacturer to offer the best possible performance and longevity and most of them will outlast equivalent metal components. The bearings (the circular items that come pre-bolted to the epoxy-coated metal side discs) are made of Delrin® which is a DuPont® engineering acetal resin and is known for its toughness, very low coefficient of friction, self-lubrication and resistance to moisture. This is why these reels are so easy to wind in and reel out and will usually outlast metal bearings in commercial use.

It looked to me like good customer relations rather than advertising.

Public apologies to 'CIU Forum Admin' and to 'Craig Trevain' who I think initiated this 'Forum Admin' response. We always try to stick within the posting guidelines of this Forum and believed that our two posts above (one removed by Admin along with Mr Trevain's complaint) were completely within these guidelines. These responses were intended to re-assure and communicate with one of our current clients who we could not contact via other means as he has no contact details on his profile. They were not intended to push or promote a specific product above anyone else's product or service. Our intention was not to use this as an opportunity to advertise anything and we did not included any logos, web links, email addresses, image links or links to other forums. The product being discussed is also not unique to us and in fact is being featured by one of the banner adverts at the top of this page.

Since this Forum switched its business model a couple of years ago, we do try to respect the new 'Advertisers first' approach to running the Forum. We limit our posts to only when we feel absolutely needed and if we cannot sort the situation out using the phone or email which is our preferred and certainly more professional usual method. We have pulled back from posting as often on the forum since 2009 because of a continuing increase in our workload and we will look at reducing our posts further if it upsets competing Advertisers.
