I am totally new to this, I was a personal trainer but that has been such a let down i am now looking at doing this form min set up.

I have a 3 series BMW and was thinking for first 3 months could I use this for window cleaning if i get a roof rack, as really cant afford a van right now.

Any views?

It will have to do, for now i want to test the waters in this window cleaning before investing in van, :-) looks good from what ive read.

fuel costs will be high starting and stoppingbut you will be fine in it, make sure you dont put stuff on your roof as you will constanty scratch it, likeways if the boot hits the ladders , make sure you buy a bucket with a lid, other than that mate you will be fine in a car, i have used both and they both have thier benifits

Have you checked the websites and the local papers for a ready built window cleaning business (window cleaning round)?

You can buy a round making 400 pounds each month for 800-1500 price range.

You can work with the seller for a month to learn the basics,and will be a good kick start for you.

Car will be absolutely fine. I started six months ago and that's all I've ever used - works great. As mentioned though be careful of marking it, mine's an old banger so I couldn't care less. Anyway, if you want any help or advice, let me know.

No don't bother doing that, just leave insurance alone, until your working 5 days a week, your premium will rise and it's not worth it unless your working enough days to justify it! I use a car, prefer it to a van. Cheaper to insure and can use back seats when need to, you'll be fine, just watch for scratches!

If you dont insure for business use, have an accident and the police / insurance company find out your screwed !!!

I started out with Nissan Almera Sport, looked a bit weird carrying ladders at first, but soon got used to it, and even started to look strange with out the ladders!

I used car for exactly same reason as you, to test the water before committing (you won't regret btw!). Now I have two vans on the road - we've all got to start somewhere.

Oh Btw, re scratches. DON'T put ladders on the roof whilst still wearing your bucket on a belt, I ended up with a multitude of hairline scratches all over the door. Or just try in general, not to lean on the side of the car when putting ladders on and off. Probably easier said than done tho!

i used a car for 10 years no problems when trad much easier to get ladders off and on than a van ;)but stuff putting a 500l tank in the boot
