Sponsoring a local football team
« on: April 06, 2011, 08:11:35 pm »
I'm thinking of sponsoring my nephews under 10's football team.

Logo and business name on the front £400 for the year

Should be good to blag some free publicity as the nephew was top goalscorer last year and was in the press in his strip. Always at big weekend tournaments too.

Does anybody else do this or similar?

I sponsor the kit for a local team, can't say I get any work from it but it does keep the team going and I have been in the local press a few times. Does the soul good too!

I offer a 10% discount to fellow supporters of the Mighty Shakers. ;D

Plaster the offer all over the Bury FC message board and not had one job from it.

Mind you we dont have a lot of supporters to market to ;D

I was thinking about this, buying the kit for my local primary school.  Your £400 is a little on the low side, is that just the shirts?  They need socks and shorts too!  And don't forget the keeper.  I think the best price I could find was getting on for £700

I considered that even with a press release there would not be enough exposure to the right market to warrant the expense - return on investment not looking likely.

I know a friend who did this....didn't work as an advertising tools....the team won a very high profile prestigious tournament.....winners team photo in front of a banner displaying tournament sponsor....team told to cross their arms for photo....thus hiding the sponsor logo etc...on their strips :'(
..but if youve got the dosh to spare and it keeps the team going and kitted out good for you...kids feel valued..which is priceless.....thats the true value of sponsoring kids footy

I sponsor a local under 12s football team due to the fact a close friend of mine is involved in the running of it
I also offer 10% dicount to team members families.
Do you get a great return? No,but you get the feel good factor and its tax deductable.

I also sponsor a British Championship Motocross Team now that costs me a lot more money with no financial gain but I love the sport.

Cheers
Steve

We sponsor the local pro rugby team, company logo on shirts, 600 replica shirts sold to the public, been on Sky tv twice in the last month, we also sponsor a local semi pro football club, level five in the pyramid for all you anoraks, and a local girls u14 football team.

Which one brings in the most work?
