Gardiner Pole connection help please
« on: April 10, 2011, 10:14:48 am »
Need to change a male for female connection on the end of the hose of the pole.

1/There is a circular clamp that is crimped using pinchers, just behind the connection - how do you remove it/can it be re-used as I now need to fit a female end rather than a male

2/Am I better off reusing or snipping the hose just behing the clamp and fitting the new connection?

3/Can you get hold of those clamps elsewhere, or can you get away without using it?

Ta, Steve

You can buy the tools and clips from hardware stores, or from Gardiners.

I have tried removing mine with the methods discussed, not tried the tin snips yet, but cant remove it.

Personally not too impressed with them, as I have pinched them up as tight as I can, and they still leak.

I await the day I can have an entirely leak free system....if anyone has one, let me know how!!

I use oerliker rings for some joints, but I wouldnt re use the hose under the old joint just snip off 1" and refit, with the special pincers.
No longer have any probs with leaks- but I use a low pressure system 32psi  with a manual bypass to keep pressure build up down.
I got my clamps and pncers from a specialist engineering supplies shop Machine Mart dont stock them.
