Vat question
« on: March 07, 2011, 10:12:03 pm »
I'm not currently Vat registered but if I pull my finger out this year I might be next year. (Unless there is a legal way around it).

For those of you that are domestic and Vat registered, do you have to provide a Vat Invoice for all of your customers and is it a pain dealing with so many small items to account for at the end of the year?

Lance

No but you need to put you VAT no on all receipts etc also put inc VAT next to price.

It is straightforward enough just 20% of turnover usualy quarterly.

I recommend getting sage, it can be linked to george and will calculate you VAT for you.

Also google VAT flat rate.

no you dont have to give an invoice to domestic customers but a few may ask for one, when we tell people its including vat they occasionally say well can we have a reciept (theyu may not belief you) so when you say yes they are usually surprised and say it doesnt matter about reciept, as for amounts they have to be calculated in, but if you have a street worth £40.00 then put it down as complerte street and not per house as it will still work out the same

Its not much of a pain, but it is a 20% rise and you can claim vat on your running costs. Keep a good set of books and every invoice!!!! Dont be late with your return and the payment! Once you are reg; with the vat man getting out of it may start a vat investigation. Having said all that if you run it right its no problem.

  hi
as above, but defo use the flat rate scheme! it will save you money.

you could use a bit of that saving to give your books to a bookeeper, if you are concerned about your record keeping.
