I would think so. I use my 18 foot pole about 90% of the time.

I would definitely say a 25 foot, I often have mine fully extended over long conservatories or flat roofs, 3 storey new build town houses a must too, I often wish I had gone for 30 foot instead as I am often stretching on 3 story town houses. But 18 foot would do for 90 % of the jobs, But still need that extra on others.

I use a clx 22 for most of my domestic but could with at least a 27ft as well, 18ft will be a struggle for some extentions, velux etc
Im not scared of heights, just falling from them.

If you're on a budget, John, get an 18 foot pole and that'll be good enough to start with; oh and a short pole for downstairs windows.

what he said  ;D

I went for a gardiners CLX 22 which is good for most of work but just got new CLX27 as the 22 could not reach over some extensions / connys a little heavier but easily manageable so now got both on van and can do all stuff on my round now

Buy a CLX 22 and you will never have a problem. There is no point in lugging extra weight around day in day out just so you have the extra reach SHOULD you need it one day.

I would go for the longest (and best quality) you can afford. Ive got a 30ft slx and use it every day.
18ft would be ok, but what if you get asked to do a 3 story job?

go for 25 ft.  this gives you more versatility - 18 ft may not always reach over conny's or extenstions.

it will also allow you to do velux windows and solar panels without getting another pole.

if you go for carbon esp.  gardiners you can work all day without the extra length wearing you out.

25ft

18 is ok 99% of the time, you don't want to have a second pole to do 1% of the work.

I think my 5 yr old extel is about to die. Fed up of glueing it all the time

I use a 13 ft and a 23 ft . Will a gardiners 23ft be ok instead of 2 poles ?

Also how do you stop grit getting up it all the time . It's doing my head in

Unfortunately grit getting into the pole from the supply hose is a problem we all have to manage, especially in wet conditions. I carry a seperate cloth around with me in my pocket and regularily run the pole hose through it to clean the grit off.
As I move the van from one job to another I also take the opportunity to clean the hose off before putting it away.

I also have a spare Rectus hose fitting that I can use to flush the pole out should it start to jam up. It's a pain and slows you down, but then that's life. Gives you something to curse at - under your breathe of course.

clx 22 ft will do most domestics including reaching over extensions, roofs and conservatories.

the  closed length is very short so its ideal for ground floor work.very light as well.

i can even reach some 2nd floor windows with it.mind you im 6 ft 2in will long arms! ;) ;D ;D

for the money i think its the best pole out there.

no point getting an 18 as you ll find it too short at times and dont bother with a seperate short pole for ground floor work as its just wasting time IMO when one pole will do the job much quicker.

i use a SLX18 for 95 percent of my work, and a SLX30 for when the 18 doesnt reach,

no point lugging round a larger heavier pole round all the time, 2 poles is best instead of the jack of all trades one,

clx is just the cheaper option its a fibreglass hybrid, go for the best the slx its a full carbon fibre pole you wont regret it.
